Meet Dr. Jamila Kendall, M.D.
Jamila Kendall, MD is a board-certified Physiatrist, specializing in Interventional Pain. She has been practicing medicine through the lens of a RN for 15 years and the lens of a doctor for an additional 10 years. She is a graduate of Morehouse School of Medicine, here in Atlanta then went on to complete her Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation residency at Rutgers – NJMS in Newark NJ.
Her career in medicine started at the tender age of 19 when she graduated from the University of Pennsylvania’s nursing school. She was commissioned into the Army Nurse Corp as a 2LT. During her tenure in the Army, she was able to get experience in multiple subspecialties to include medical-surgical, post-op, and obstetrics and gynecology, to name a few. As an Army Nurse she honed in on leadership and cultural diversity skills. She retired as a Captain from the Army Nurse Corp.in 2010. Her nursing career concluded with a job as a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) Nurse at the world-renowned Shepherd Center. Sparking her desire to pursue a career in Physiatry (PM&R).
Dr.Kendall’s passion is to serve this community; helping individuals to achieve the highest quality of life attainable, after a life-changing injury. With a holistic approach to caring for her patient, she creates an individualized plan of care. With Dr.Kendall, every patient gets the expertise of a Physician with the bedside manner of a Nurse.
As a doctor she has worked in skilled nursing facilities, chronic pain and personal injury clinics. With a focus on spinal and joint injections.
